- Abraham Lincoln ended up winning the presidential election. Abe won the electoral votes and the popular votes to win.

- Abraham Lincoln Compromised to not mess where slavery is already in the United States. In the South they did not trust that so on December 20, 1860, the South left the Union.

- After what South Carolina did, people still wanted to keep the Union. John Critten from Kentucky proposed several amendments. Republicans considered this unacceptable because they just won the election and they don't want to change slavery boundaries.
- Presidential Responses
- The states that have already left, are calling themselves the "Confederates". With more states making a decision, the country being split in half was soon underway.
- The division of the states had many people celebrating, and many people torn because the country was now in half.
- YAY
- Lincoln had won the election and had decided that he can not lose the remaining slave states. While the ones that succeeded are still "apart" of the country.
