  • This castle hath a pleasant seat ; the air Nimbly and sweetly recommends itself Unto our gentle senses.
  • Act IV, Scene i , Line 71- 72
  • Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! beware Macduff, Beware the thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough.
  • Act V, Scene i , Line 64-65
  • Infected mindsTo their deaf pillows will discharge their secrets :
  • In this quote, King Duncan is admiring Lady Macbeth and Macbeth's castle. This would be considered free will because Duncan chooses to trust people easily without knowing how they truly are. This quote foreshadows Duncan's death because he is gullible toward Macbeth's true actions.
  • Act III, Scene iv, Line 2-35
  • Have I not reason, beldam as you are, Saucy and overbold? How did you dare to trade and traffic with Macbeth....Hark I am called : my little spirit, see, Sits in a foggy cloud, and stays for me.
  • This shows fate vs. free will because Macbeth believed it was fate to overpower Macduff and stay in power. When truly his fate was his death because of his free - will of killing people. This also shows the foreshadowing of Macbeth's death because the head is not Macduff's it's Macbeth's.
  • Act II, Scene ii, Line 35 -36
  • Methought I heard a voice cry 'Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep', the innocent sleep,
  • The doctor uses personification to show how the pillows are deaf. In this quote, free will is used to show that Lady Macbeth thought her free will was to take control of her fate and be powerful by helping with the murder of Duncan. However, Lady Macbeth's guilt of the murder affected her by making her fate be her death because her conscience was taking over her mind.
  • Act V, Scene V, Line 19-20
  • To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow, Creeps into this petty place day to day
  • There is the use of a monologue as Hecate is having a long speech about how she feels about the witches' actions and what she'll do next. This shows Macbeth's free will of killing King Duncan and attempting to secure his spot on the throne only will give him extra confidence and create his fate to be his downfall.
  • Macbeth is using symbolism here for sleep as it is symbolizing peace and innocence. Not only has Macbeth destroyed Duncan's sleep, but also his own ability to rest peacefully because of his free will of killing Duncan and caused his fate to be chaotic and restless.
  • In this Macbeth uses a metaphor to show how tired he is of his existence and how after each word he is losing his purpose in life. This also shows Macbeth's fate vs. free will because his action of killing King Duncan led him to where he is right now.
