Storyboard Text
- Michelle was riding her bike around the neighborhood.
- All of a sudden....she accidentally rides her bike into a rock and her bike tire deflates!
- As Michelle's dad fixes her bike, she wonders how that works and what kind of science is involved in it.
- OH NOO!
- Miss, your bike retired!
- Michelle then decides to walk her bike home.
- I wonder what's wrong with Michelle's bike?
- It's probably two-tired!Get it, hehe!!
- Hopefully, dad can help me fix my bike tire!
- After they fix her bike, she goes upstairs to solve the problem she came up with.
- She goes to get her dad, and leaves her bike outside.
- Dad! I need your help now! My bike tire broke.
- Let me just finish up work, and I'll help you. Meet me in the garage.
- Michelle and her dad then meet in the garage.
- Ok, here's my bike. The front tire is flat because I ran into a rock.
- There's an air pump right here. Let's go fix it outside!
- Ok, here you go! Your bike is all fixed.
- Hold on…how did you do that?
- As her dad explains Boyle's law to her she comes up with this problem: What pressure is required to compress 105 liters of air at 1.50 atm into a cylinder whose volume is 25 liters?
- It's really simple! It's just all about chemistry. To be specific, it's all about Boyle's law. When I pumped air into your tire the gas molecules that were in the tire get compressed and pack closely together. That then increases the pressure inside of the tire, causing the particles to push against the wall of the tire!
- Oh, that makes so much sense! Thanks dad!
