Hello! My name is Pineda and I am a Spanish Explorer. I was set out in 1519 to map the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I am the first European to observe and map the Texas coastline. I led to Spain's increased interest in the Gulf Coast region and laid the groundwork for further exploration.

Hello! My name is Coronado and in 1540 me and some other men went in search of the seven cities in Cibola looking for gold. I found the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and the Palo Duro Canyon. I brought back valuable information about the region and indigenous peoples. Since there was no gold in Texas, the Spanish eventually ignored and abandoned their northern territory called Texas.

Hello! My name is Cabeza de Vaca and I am a Spanish Explorer exploring Florida in 1526. Me and several other men were shipwrecked on Galveston Island because of a hurricane. After I traveled across Texas from tribe to tribe as a servant, trader, and healer me and Estevanico returned back to Mexico City telling stories of the people we encountered and the fabled seven cities of gold including the city of Cibola. The significance of my journey I provided insight into the lives of the Native Americans and the geography sparking further exploration into Texas especially in search of finding gold.
