- Scene 1: Trade imbalance between Britain and China
- HA! You guys can't make money off of us. Stay in your lane
- Oh really?
- Scene 2: Britain imports Opium into China
- China come on down and get your Opium. This trade imbalance can possible come to an end.
- We can finally make some money now!
- Scene 3: China is trying to discard Opium
- I WANT THIS NASTY DRUG OUT OF MY COUNTRY NOW!!!! IT IS CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY PEOPLE
- The British were buying China's goods but weren't selling anything to them. This happened due to Britain becoming a nation of tea drinkers and the production of tea in China rose drastically.
- Scene 4: Opium War
- Ready to get defeated?
- Britain tried to sell their own products to China but there was not much of a demand for heavy woolen fabrics but eventually, the British found a product they can make money off of in China. This product was called Opium.
- Scene 5: Effects of Opium War
- Now did you really think you can beat us and take over? Try again next time...Oh wait there isn't a next time
- Opium is an addictive drug that weakened a large percentage of the population. Lin Tse-hsu, the emperor's official, did whatever he can out of his ability to end the traffic forever.
- Scene 6: The Treaty of Nanjing
- Now you must sign the Treaty and DO WHAT IS TOLD
- Stores were being taken away from the Chinese and they came across an agreement stating that if opium was to ever be traded again then the people will be punished by the Chinese law. This eventually lead to a war.
- We'll see about that
- The Western military weapons were far superior to China's weapon so this war wasn't so successful for the Chinese because they lost. The British were victorious. The emperor had no choice but to accept the British demands and sign a peace agreement.
- This is just unbelievable
- This agreement was called The Treaty of Nanjing. It was the first of many unequal treaties that Chinese were forced to sign.
