  • Roles of Men and Women in the War
  • Sherman's March to the Sea
  • Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse
  • Men who were wealthy or had more than 20 slaves served as officers. Men who were lower classes served in the war and usually died. Women on the other hand were left to run plantations, serve as nurses, and many fled their homes as the war came closer to them. 
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater
  • William Sherman was a Union General who wanted to bring total war the the civilians of South Carolina, hoping to make the South surrender. Sherman and his men destroyed homes, plantations, cattle, and towns. Some soldiers even set fire to some of the towns.
  • Battle of Antietam
  • The Confederate General Robert E. Lee, surrendered to the Union General Ulysses S. Grant. This took place on April 9th, 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse. It officially marked the end of the Civil War.
  • Battle of Gettysburg
  • Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theater in Washington, DC. John Wilkes booth killed Lincoln. Lincoln was assassinated five day after the Civil War ended.
  • The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest day in American History. The Confederates attempted to invade Maryland. It was a Union Victory.
  • The Confederates tried to invade Pennsylvania. This battle lasted for 3 days and there were over 50,000 casualties. The Union won and the confederate general never tried to invade the North again.
