- Quiet kid Owen decides to take a chance and board a bus to New York City to meet a Girl, Jena, who he had been IMing online. She would be waiting for him under the butterflies and they would sleep over at a friends apartment.
- "I'd only be gone thirty hours, but it'd probably be the most significant thirty hours of my life."(263)

- After taking a cab to get to the Children's Museum where Jena would be inside waiting for him, Owen contemplates his life decisions, and starts to panic alone in New York City.
- Owen finally gets the courage to walk in, and he spots Jena right away laying upwards, her arms at her sides. As he watched her from outside the doorway, he soon realizes that she was way prettier then he imagined her to be, so he decides to run.
- "It's one thing to IM her, to craft these smart messages that crack her up. But it's another thing entirely to be here, in person, trying to be someone I'm not."(281)
- Owen locks himself in a bathroom stall, gasping for air. It wasn't asthma, he was full-fledged panicking. He was almost tearing up as he sat there hiding on the toliet.
- Owen builds up the courage to go back downstairs. He drops his duffel bag, and meets Jena. Jena is ecstatic at his arrival.

- Owen and Jena lie down on the ground and look up at the butterflies. They laid close together, shoulders touching, and finally he felt happy to be there.
