Storyboard Text

  • Begining
  • I'm starting to feel replaced.
  • Rising Action
  • This doesn't feel right, I think I need to talk to the kids.
  • NO STOP! I HATE YOU!
  • Climax
  • I'm going to turn off the house.
  • The Hadley family is living in the Happylife home. The mom, Lydia, and the dad, George, let the household take care of everything such as daily activities and the raising of their children, Wendy and Peter, with its technological advancements. The house does everything for them and makes their life easy.
  • Falling Action
  • I can't wait till I lock this place up!
  • The children start to become obsessed with the Nursery and to be specific the African Veldt. The kids become emotionally attached to the nursery and their lives soon start to revolve around the house. Lydia and George start to become concerned about the children because of the hostile environment they are portraying in the nursery. Wendy and Peter are emotionally attached to the technology of the nursery and use it as a form of therapy. It also appears to be addictive for them because they can always use it to take out their frustrations.
  • Ending
  • When George notices that the kids hold too much power he attempts to take away the nursery by locking it, calling a psychiatrist, and turning off the house as a whole. Because of what George did Peter threatens the parents if they continue to go against what he and Wendy want. The technology of the nursery took over the place of the parents as Peter yells to the house to stop the father's actions instead of obeying the parent's commands.
  • theme
  • The children are furious that their parents have decided to take away the things that make their life so much easier. The parents continue to think about why they purchased a house that took away their humanity and also reflect on how it makes them feel artificial. The kids decide to take out their anger by tricking their parents into getting into the dangerous Veldt. The children get very attached to technology and they are very dependent on it to make them feel comfortable in everyday life.
  • Wendy and Peter trick their parents into running into the nursery, where they get trapped and get eaten by lions. The technology gave the kids too much power, enough to kill their own parents, technology degraded sympathy to humans for the young children and were more connected to technology than to other people.
  • The theme of the story can be that with technology a sense of reality can be lost by the personification of AI into the feelings of real emotions. The parents did not grow up with this kind of technology which ultimately led to their downfall. The children did grow up with this technology so they became emotionally attached to it and lost the feeling of human empathy. Technology can impact someone in a variety of ways and can be truly awful if not lead in the right direction. If not properly guided it can have harmful outcomes and affect the human race as a whole.
