  • I should buy the Louisiana territory from Napoleon
  • Napoleon was planning on closing the New Orleans port, if he did this America would lose a lot of money. So, Jefferson wanted to buy it from him to gain double the land mass, and get more money.

  • Jefferson: Can I buy the Louisiana territory from you.Napoleon: Sure brochachoJefferson: Okay, I will send explorers.
  • Napoleon wanted to close the New Orleans Port, if he did that they would lose a lot of money. So, he made a deal with Napoleon to just buy the Louisiana territory and he agreed. Jefferson believed in a strict interpretation of the Constitution which meant that he shouldn't be able to buy if from Napoleon, but he bent his beliefs for once.

  • This area is so cool. This is a great expansion for America
  • After the territory was bought, Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and Matthew Clark on an expedition to explore the new territory and what it had to offer. They learned about Native American tribes and their customs which helped them learn about the land and its plants and animals.
