Storyboard Text

  • In Egypt, they thought death was just a welcoming into a new world similar to this one. But, they also thought that when dead, you'd need a body to wonder that world. Their solution was making mummies, which they'd go through many steps to make.
  • Nothing much is inside of the pyramids now, since most of the valuable items that were contained inside of pharaohs got taken a long time ago. The inside of a pyramid also contained of long narrow hallways. Back to the mummies. A mummy is a body that is well preserved to the point of not decaying even after thousands of years. How they managed to preserve the bodies was by first taking out their organs and placing them in jars named canopic jars, then covering the body with salt and natron also stuffing them with sweet smelling herbs and spices, linen, sawdust, natron. They then would wrap them up with bandages very tightly, and having a priest come inside and give prayers.
  • The people of Ancient Egypt were known for mummifying the dead humans, but they also mummified animals. Now a days when our generation of Egyptians see these mummified animals, they use them as fire wood. The animals most commonly found mummified are cats and dogs. They mummified these animals so the dead would have their companions in the next world. Especially since they were known for having good relationships with their pets it was seen as affection.
