- With taxes you get protection from the king! It is only fair to pay taxes for protection.
- We were only doing it to fight against the taxes! They are absurd, and the colonists get no representation. And as we say, no taxation without representation!

- We were not paying taxes before the war, yet we still got protection! And, it's not the money we are mad about, it's the fact that it seems as if we have no right to have a say in what's going on!!
