In “The Monsters Due on Maple Street'' by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is to not go around making accusations. First of all, women one just accusued Mr. Goodman of being one of the monsters `` well if that's the case, Les Goodman, explain why… a couple of times i’d come out on the porch and i’d see Mr. Goodman here in the wee hours of the night standing out in the front of his house looking up at the sky… as if he were waiting for something.” That evidence can be found on page 77. So Women one was basically saying that Mr. Goodman was the monster because he saw him sometimes looking at the sky waiting for something. That caused a lot of chaos among the neighbors, accusations being thrown around. While the neighbors were agrguing Don brought out a shotgun then Steve said “a shot gun? Good lord, will anybody think a thought around here? Will you people wise up? What good would a shotgun do against'' Charlie cuts him off “ no more talk Steve you're going to talk us into a grave!” After that they see a firgure in the shadows walking toward them. Charlie points the shotgun and pulls the triger just assuming that it's the monster. Turns out it was just Pete Van Horn, then everyone starts saying that Charlie is the monster because he killed him and he was first to say who they had to be careful of. This all can be found on pages 82 and 83.Additionally, Charlie was being accused of being the monster but the he said it wasn't him and started acusing Tommy. “Look, Look, I swear to you it isn’t me but I do know who it is … its the kid. It's Tommy, He’s the one.” After that the neighbors started accusing him too “How could he know? Who told him? Make the kids answer.” Then all the neighbors started to accuse one another, then they went after Tommy so Sally had to run with Tommy but then Charlie's lights go on and off then so does everyone else. Which can all be found on pages 84 and 85. This is what happened when they all turned on each other, it just became a whole mess of accusations among the neighbors. In conclusion, By all the neighbors accusing one another it led to Pete Van Horn being killed and everyone being turned against each other. This shows just how they were in a way made to think there was actually a monster trying to destroy them.
