  • “Thus with a kiss, I die” 227. Romeo poisons himself as Juliet is waking up. Once Juliet sees him dead, she tries to die as well. There is no poison left in the bottle or on Romeo’s lips. She takes Romeo’s dagger out of the sheath and stabs herself with it, killing her. “O, happy dagger, this is thy sheath. There rust and let me die” 231. If depression is bad enough, it may start to make people want to end their life.
  • “Is there no pity sitting in the clouds that sees into the bottom of my grief? O sweet mother, cast me not away. Delay this marriage for a month, a week, or if you do not, make a bridal bed that dim monument where Tybalt lies” 171. Juliet is begging for her mother to delay the marriage with Paris. It says “delay this marriage” and in the story Juliet has to marry Paris and she didn't want to. She seems really upset that she has to marry Paris.
  • “Why, such is love’s transgression. Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast, which thou wilt propagate to have it pressed with more thine. This love thou hast shown doth add more grief to too much of my own. Love is smoke made with the fume of sighs” 23. When Rosaline turns Romeo's request to go out down, Romeo falls into a depressive pit. His cousin tries to console him and he just feels bad. He wants to kill himself because she doesn't love him and he feels like he'll never love anyone again.
