- Okay class, today we'll be going back in time and to learn what each of the most important scientists contributed to the Cell Theory.
- Good day. My name is Robert Hooke. I was born in the year of 1635 in England. As a famous philosopher, I named "the cell" after I discovered cell walls by looking at a cork slice under a microscope.
- Greetings! My name is Robert Brown and I was born in the year of 1773 in Scotland. As a botanist, I was the first to discover a nucleus in plant cells.
- Hello! My name is Matthias Schleiden and I was born in the year of 1804 in Germany. I am a German botanist and I made the first generalized statement that cells are in plants.
- He also made three conclusions about cells.1) “Cells are organisms and all organisms consist of one or more cells”2) “The cell is the basic unit of structure for all organisms”3)“Cells form by a free-cell formation of crystals (spontaneous generation).

- Hello. My name is Rudolf Virchow and I was born in the year of 1821 in Poland. I was the one who "fixed” Schwann’s last conclusion, and changed it to “All cells arise from pre-existing cells.”
- Virchow was the first to propose that diseased cells come from healthy cells.
