  • "There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundation of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges." (King)

One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination.   • This quote uses ethos because King references a historical figure Abraham Lincoln. This gives him credibility because it makes him look like he knows what he is talking about.

  • This quote shows pathos by talking about something that they can connect to and have done wholeheartedly. They everyone there had most likely done a protest before and were passionate about it.

  • This quote uses logos by giving statistics of 100 years ago the Negros where in the same state as they were then.

  • This shows ethos by referencing the Constitution and showing everyone that he has done his research and knows what he is talking about.

  • This quote represents pathos because of the location that they are in. Since he is in front of the Lincoln Memorial he is referencing to the Civil War when the Negros won their freedom.

  • This quote is showing logos by talking about checks that everyone understands and comparing good checks to white people and bad checks for the Negro people.
