I'm going to participate as a candidate and start developing my campaign. I am a senator from a large state. I am well educated and wealthy. I am happily married
We're both running for the same party, but only one of us will advance past the primary.
I am the nominee for my party. I campaigned strong for the NH primary and Iowa caucuses which gave me a lot of momentum. Each state had a primary election or caucus and am the winner for my party. The delegates for the party convention were also chosen in the states' primary elections.
I am the VP candidate
Our party had a convention in the summer and I was nominated by the party as the Presidential candidate to run against the opposing party. I announced my VP at the convention. At the convention, we also adopted a party platform and unified the party after the primaries.
We have campaigned very hard. We travelled a lot to swing states and spent a lot of money on advertising. The general election was in Nov which chose the electors. I won the popular and the electoral vote but that doesn't always happen.
In December the electoral college voted. Each state gets three votes plus additional votes based on their population. It is a winner take all for all the states except for Maine and Nebraska. I got more than the 270 electoral votes that I needed to win.
In January Congress counted the electoral votes.
On January 20th I was inaugurated and officially became president!
