- Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a learned man from Bengal and knew many languages like English, Bengali, Persian, Arabic, Sanskrit and Latin.
- What is this happening in our society? Our society have become so superstitious?
- Yes, Sati is a very old belief and no one will listen to us. If we try to take measures against this people will not listen to us because majority people are in favour of sati.
- His friend Dwarkanath Tagore who was the grandfather of Rabindranath Tagore helped him to do many campaigns against sati. Finally, sati was abolished by enacting “Bengali Sati Regulation Act in 1829”.
- He launched newspaper to make men and women educated but it was banned by British empire in 1823.
- We should make our men educated so that these thing doesn’t happen in our society. Now we should make a Sabha inviting people against sati and named it as “Atmiya Sabha”.
- When sati happened in his own family he was the only one to be against sati but everybody was in favour of sati.
- First he was very sad on the death of his brother but he was shocked by the act of his family. Then he made a decision that until he make sati stop he will not get peace.
- Your brother has died. He waited for you till the last moment.
- She was forced to follow her religion, wasn’t it right.
- Where is sister in law? Is the fine or not? Was she forced by you all to die with my brother? Oh god! you all murdered a woman.
