Mrs. Smith has noticed one of her students Daisy has been falling a little behind in class and seems to be struggling with the curriculum. It begins to raise concern.
Mrs. Smith decides to put her class class through the standard RTI process so Daisy doesn't fall too far behind. The entire class takes a universal screening test where data will be collected.
This way Mrs Smith can see if Daisy or any of her other students may need a little more help!
After the testing, Mrs Smith notices Daisy may have a learning problem and that she should be given extra help or an intervention and monitoring . Known as tier 2 of the RTI process
Daisy is given a pre referral based on child find
Now in tier 2, Daisy is given additional help, in a smaller group. While this process is happening more data s being collected.
Daisy is still showing signs of struggle and will no2 receive a referral to evaluation. This will determine if she needs to continue the RTI process into Tier 3. The state and district policies determine this !
Daisy was then moved into Tier 3 where now she receives the extra help she needs, with individualized curriculum !!
