- -Sophie is visiting her mother in Kinshasa for the summer and makes Clement stop the car so she can buy a baby bonobo from the trafficker.
- Chapter 8
- We learn more about the sanctuary and the three women who serve as surrogate mothers for the bonobos. Mama Brunelle, Mama Evangeline, and Mama Maria-France are the women who take care of the bonobos.
- Chapter 12
- we learn Pweto got his injuries because when he was playing with a baby bonobo the baby slipped and died and the pink ladies attracted him.
- Chapter 13
- The Kata kata were attacking and a officer and the peacekeepers were trying to catch Sophie but she went in to the enclosure and climbed a tree and saw the Kata kate killing people and burning down there houses.
- Sophie and Otto go to were the bonobos are and to survive she does what the bonobos were doing so she tries to make a nest in a tree but has a hard time but Mushie made her one to sleep in.
- each day Sophie climbed up a tree and checked what the Kata kata were doing but one night tery got drunk and yelled for Sophie and the bonobos for meat.
