  • Colonists ignored the law and said they could settle wherever they wanted to.
  • The Proclamation of 1763 was to ban colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • We can settle wherever we want!
  • The Sugar Act of 1764 required all colonists to pay extra tax on molasses, sugar, and other goods.
  • This was just the start of the horrible events that would take place the next 10 years.

  • This included providing food, water, transportation, fuel, and more for the soldiers.
  • The Quartering Act of 1765 required colonists to to house British soldiers.
  • The colonists boycotted - they didn't buy any of the goods.
  • The Stamp Act of 1765 forced all colonists to buy special tax stamps for printed materials.
  • The Townshend Act allowed peoples houses and ships to be searched by officials without giving a reason why they were being searched.
  • Britain would only pay tax products brought into the colonies.
  • Colonists did recognize the tax, and continued to boycott the goods.
  • This included closing ports, forcing the colonists to quarter more troops, and ban town hall meetings.
  • The Intolerable Acts were used as a punishment towards the colonists in response to the Boston Tea Party.
  • The colonists in the Boston Tea Party dumped over 18,524,000 cups of tea in the bay.
