- i must flee,i don't want to kill my father and married my mother
- Anagnorisis is the moment when the hero makes an important discovery.The anagnorisis of the story is when oedipus and the other characters find out that the prophecy was true and he killed his father and married his mother.
- Hubris
- i must leave my parents so that i don't complete prophecy
- Catharsis is the audiences feelings of pity and fear.The point in the story where the audience experiences catharsis is when we found out that jocasta killed herself.
- Dramatic Irony
- the prophecy came true .those were not your real parents that you ran away from.
- jocasta is your real mom and laius is your dad
- jocasta and laius are not my real parents .i was not raised with them .
- Hamartia is the hero's flaw that leads to his tragic downfall.The hamartia of the story is that he tried to flee his fate of completing the prophecy .
- Symbolism
- Hubris is a heros extreme pride and disrespect for the natural order of the world.The hubris in the story is when he denies the prophecy so he leaves his "parents"
- the prophecy is going to come true
- Dramatic Irony is when the reader or audience know something important that a character does not.The dramatic irony of the story is that we as the readers knew that he had killed his father and married his mother the whole time but.Oedipus doesn't find out until towards the end of the story
- Symbolism is the use of symbols to signify ideas and qualities, by giving them symbolic meanings that are different from their literal sense.in the book they show simbolizem based off of oedipus's name.His name means swollen feet.he was given this name based off or how his feet where pined together .
