- Cia, Raffe, and Michal are walking to the rebel camp to give Symon tapes to end the testing. The tapes are accidentally played and Cia hears her own voice. This new information from before getting her memory erased makes it all come back to her. The pain, sorrow, and hardships she went through during the fourth test.
- "Isn't it obvious. I'm getting rid of my competition. I didn't lose my brother and come all this was just to be told i'm not good enough to make it into the university." - Will" (301).

- As Cia, Raffe, and Michal keep walking, moving into the unrevitalized part of the outside of the city, Michal sees Cia getting all of the harsh memories from her experience during the testing flood back to her.
- "Cia? Are you okay? - Michal's voice cuts through the flood of memories" (301-302).
- Cia, Raffe, and Michal are almost to the rebel camp when Cia tells Michal that she is fine. All that she could think about is ending the testing and giving these recordings to Symon to get them to the president for the upcoming debate.
- Once the president plays all these recordings on the Debate Chamber floor, officials will have no choice other than to vote against Dr. Barnes" (302).
- Michal sees Symon and started walking towards him. Cia immediately recongnizes him as the old man who helped her by giving her food and water during the testing. He had given it to her a few times and it helped her stay hydrated while looking for more water.
- Symon killed Michal and destroyed the recordings that would end the testing. In this moment, Cia realized that Symon was bad and he was not trying to stop the testing, he was working with Dr. Barnes to keep the testing going and get Dr. Barnes into power.
- Two shots split the air. Michal's eyes widen. His hands reach his chest and he crumples to the ground. Terror claws my swollen throat, but the hand that clamps over my mouth prevents sound from escaping. Page: 304
- As Cia sorrowfully goes back to her room, she ponders what she had just seen. Did someone see her? Then it hit her, when she had seen her brother there, she had to warn him and try to communicate with him on the transit communicator they both may have in their possession.
- Cia, Are you there" (310)?
- My appearance will give no one reason to question where I have been. I look normal. And yet, I barely recognize the girl staring back at me. I wonder if when this is over, I will know her at all. Page: 307
