Buck and the sled team are finishing a run, so they could rest when they are finished. The rising action is that the dogs were really tired.
"If you strike that dog one more time, I'll kill you."
Three men come to Mercedes and tell her that he wouldn't tote that tent along if he was her. Mercedes did not care about the three men who came and she didn't care of what they told her.
"You poor devil."
The dogs were really tired and did not know if they could go any further. The climax was that the dogs could barely even move and the sled team was getting furious.
"Oh, no!"
Hal beat Buck with a stick and he became unconscious and was bleeding profusely. John Thornton wants to stop Hal from beating Buck with a club.
John Thornton stayed with Buck and the sled team left him behind. The story is getting resolved when Hal stops and leaves Buck behind with John.
The sled team left Buck with John Thornton they left on an ice trail, but the ice cracked, they fell in and died. The sled team along with the dogs fell in the ice that cracked and Buck never had to get beaten with a club.
