"In praising Antony I have dispraised Caesar.
Cleopatra was born into the throne. She was part of the Macedonian dynasty that took over rule of Egypt in the late 4th century B.C. She made political alliances and became romantically involved with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She eventually died in 30 B.C.
After her father died Cleopatra claimed the throne but soon after was driven out of Egypt by her brother. She went to Syria and formed an army to get back her throne. With the help of Julius Caesar she defeated her brother. She was also very smart and just being a female ruler was a huge accomplishment.
Cleopatra is so important because she was the first woman pharaoh of ancient Egypt. She was also an amazing role model for all girls because she was able to form a whole army when men "ruled the world." Cleopatra was a very strong woman that could have fought through anyting and that is why she is important.
