People with addiction use substances or engage in behaviors that become compulsive and often continue despite harmful consequences.Prevention efforts and treatment approaches for addiction are generally as successful as those for other chronic diseases.

  • Online games are very popular, at least one person plays video games in two-thirds of American households, according to the Entertainment Software Association. Roughly 160 million American adults play internet-based games, one recent study estimates. The games can be very entertaining, and it may be easy to get absorbed in the competition, but can they be addictive? That is a question still being debated among researchers and health professionals, but early evidence suggests that videogames are one of the most addicting technologies around. In fact, new research shows that there are plenty of safe and effective treatments for videogame addiction already in use.

  • Thinking about my own life I am not happy with the amount of technology I use because I use an overwhelming amount be it at school or at home, I am typically using technology for more hours of the day than I am not, Looking at all the research my opinion on technology has not changed at all and i am not going to use it any less
  • Even if video game addiction isn't real it can still cause anxiety, depression, social isolation, poor sleep, and lower academic or job performance
