Storyboard Text

  • The reading and presentation that Mrs. Mirabella had created moved me incredibly. The journey that she had as a mother and the steps she actively took to care for her daughter is the most selfless act of love I have ever heard of.Hearing that one's daughter has SLOS and not knowing the future about her life is extremely terrifying and scary. However, filled with hope, Mrs. Mirabella confidently and boldly stands for her daughter in every situation. Gina brought together couples and truly brings people so much joy.Mrs. Mirabella advocated for Gina all her life, through school programs, extra activities and all the therapies. She wanted to be the best mother she could be, and love her daughter just like any child deserves to be loved.

  • One way that I would help a parent share their voice about their child is by giving them the space to talk to me, as their child's teacher. I would give her accessibility to reach me about any concerns they may have about their child.
  • Another way I would incorporate the parent's voices is by giving them a form in the beginning of the year to notify me of any concerns or information that I should know about their child.
  • Lastly, parents can share their voice through monthly meetings the school administration and staff will have with parents about any concerns or questions they may have. Through this, parents will be acquainted with the building and its members, and be more comfortable to share what may be pressing them.
  • Thirdly, parents can share their voices through the class website where pictures and information will be posted on the progress of the class as a whole. Through this platform, parents can communicate with other parents to ask questions and build a community with each other.
