- Ominous footsteps had trailed scout and Jem as they were leaving the show. They thought it was Cecil Jacobs who had scared them. Prior, they consider to proceed home.
- The stalker continued to follow the two of them. In her metal mesh outfit, Jem shouts at scout to flee, but she loses her balance and falls. Bob Ewell, the stalker, hits Scout, but she is shielded by her wire armor.
- Bob grabs ahold Jem's arm and breaks it leaving him unconcious. Scout regains balance and attempts to kick Bob. He fails to land stabs on her. Bob begins to choke Scout trapping her in her wire prison
- Boo Radley murders Bob by stabbing him in the chest with a kitchen knife in the darkness. Jem is grabbed by Boo. As he couldn't figure out who it was or what had happened, Scout took a quick look around and followed the man.
- Scout follows after as Boo carries the unconscious and broken armed Jem back to Atticus. It's still not clear who the rescuer was for Scout.
- The three of them arrive home to meet Atticus and Alexandra. Grateful Atticus took Jem inside, calling the doctor immediately. Atticus stays up all night in Jem's room and he would be there when Jem woke up in the morning.
