- Once there was a person called Zeus. Zeus was the Greek God of the heavens, earth and the sky.#160; In Roman Mythology Zeus is called Jupiter. Zeus had two brothers called Poseidon and Hades. Poseidon was another person. One day Zeus and some men went into a cave.

- One day Zeus and some men went into a cave. This cave was home to the cyclops. Zeus talked to the cyclops. Ha we cyclops do not fear the gods.#160; The cyclops devoured some men. What is your name asked the Cyclops. My name is Nobody said Zeus. Here is your gift Nobody. Zeus pricked the eye of the cyclops with a pencil. The next day the cyclops had killed 2 more men. The men that were devoured and trapped had come out. Then Zeus took all the men to the boat.#160;

Aphrodite said that Prince Paris would get a wife called Helen. Helen was the queen of Sparta, Greece. In fact she was already married to Menelaus. One day Prince Paris went to take Helen. This made Menelaus furious and angry. That is because Helen is the wife of Menelaus. Menelaus is the husband of Helen. So Menelaus said that he was better than Artemis. This means that Menelaus had committed hubris. So Menelaus killed an animal of Artemis. Then Menelaus and his 1000 ships of Sparta who were the soldiers and sailors went to Troy to free Helen. This made Artemis angry and annoyed.

- Polyphemus was Greek. Polyphemus was the son of Poseidon. Poseidon was the Greek God of the sea. In Roman Mythology, Poseidon is called Neptune. The cyclops were violent because they did not fear or respect the Gods. Polyphemus was a cyclops. He had 1 eye. Polyphemus was eating all the people. He was ruthless and pitiless. Zeus told the cyclops that his name was Nobody. He did not share his real identity with the Cyclops. Zeus pricked the eye of the Cyclops with a pencil. Then Zeus and all the men went to the boat and left. The Cyclops had realized that Zeus had tricked them. So the cyclops prayed to Poseidon for help. He asked Poseidon to help him get revenge on Odysseus of Ithaca. Poseidon agreed. Soon he made a huge wave. Poseidon was the father of Polyphemus. Zeus told the cyclops, if anyone asks who tricked the cyclops. He should say that it was Odysseus of Ithaca. Homer uses sensory detail (imagery) and diction to describe the cyclops.
