Storyboard Text

  • In the year 1812, the Congress of the United States declared war on Great Britain. There were many reasons, but there were three main ones. The first one was impressment. British soldiers would board American merchant ships, and force the American sailors to serve in Britain's navy.
  • This is an order to immediately board our ship and come with us. You will then be placed In the ships galley where you be working.
  • But this isn't Fair! I'm an American Citizen! You can't do this to me! Please!
  • The second reason was because of a group of Americans called "Warhawks". Warhawks were citizens, lawmakers, farmers, etc. who lived and represented people from the western frontier. The war hawks wanted to declare war with Britain because they were upset with the impressment of American sailors, and the fact that Britain was supplying Native American enemies with weapons and supplies, who were attacking settlers on the Western Frontier.
  • We need to declare war on Britain! Their tyranny has gone on long enough! They are kidnapping our sailors and supplying our Enemies!
  • The final reason for the War of 1812 was because of the British involvement with Native American resistance. The British had secretly been supplying the native americans with guns and supplies, and encouraging them to harass American settlements, creating even more tension
  • Take these guns back to your tribe Tecumseh, use them to attack the pesky Americans. Remember what they did to your tribes lands?
