- We want justice!
- The unfair system was broken into three parts- The 1st,2nd, and 3rd estates. While the 1st and 2nd consisted of royal and novels the 3rd was 95% of the population and they had it the worse with starvation on the rise and high tax prices while the other 2 estates lived lavishly.
- While the wealthy continued to spend like nothing happened France suffered a economical and financial crisis including food shortages and war debt.
- In the middle of the chaos, King Louis decided to assemble the estates general, which had come together after several years.
- Get rid of this unjust system!
- When finding themselves locked out of the building the members of the Estates General representating the 3rd clergy decided to take matters into their owns hands and took an oath to meet 'whenever there's injustice' in an nearby tennis court and like that the national assembly was formed.
- After King Louis XV died of smallpox in 1774, his inadequate grandson King Louis XIV took up the throne.
- The Parisian mob stormed the prison which as a massive revolt. The result was multiple fatalities . The mob killed and tortured government officials and released prisoners. The Bastille was the symbol of the people, and for those representing the abuse by the monarchy.
- We want freedom!
