  • Definition - Blood pressure is the pressure of blood walls of the arteries of your heart that pump blood around your body. Blood pressure does not stay the same all of the time; it regulates to your body's needs. How to Measure Blood Pressure - You will wrap an inflatable cuff around the arm, typically an inch above the bend of the elbow. Then you will inflate the cuff with a bulb and on the cuff there's a gauge. You will then loosen some air out and use a stethoscope to listen carefully to your first and last heartbeat. Then, locate the numbers of where you first and last hear a beat. Once you have the number, write it down, the first number will go on the top (Systolic) and the second number will go on the bottom (Diastolic). Normal Reading - Systolic pressure of less than 120 - Diastolic pressure of less than 80 Question - How did they figure out how to measure Blood Pressure?
