- I don't know why you never told me that dad talks to himself like this. I really thought we were closer than this.
- He starts off happy when he knows you're coming but when you come he gets all shaky. Why are you always leaving, Can't sit still, make a life for yourself. Haven't you any respect for your father? If you don't love him you couldn't possibly love me.
- Nonsense! You always make him seem okay. He never put you on a pedestal! Charley wouldn't act like this. Dad doesn't have it as bad as some.
- Go ahead. Let Charley be your father! Willy was no big earner, never earned any medals, never on front page of paper. He's a real person we don't want his life to end. Calling him crazy doesn't help things.
- I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't realize how serious things are. I know I need to move home. I will stay, get a job and be part of the family again. But I will have to keep my distance from dad.
- Okay, I'm glad you see the situation. He's a poor soul, driving miles, no one greeting him, earning nothing. You really can't turn your eye the other way and be a travelling bum. Used to be so close with him....talking everyday.
