- Ponyboy is walking home from the movies by himself when a group of socs jump him. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 5, Ponyboy says "They had my arms and legs pinned down and one of them was sitting on my chest with his knees on my elbows, and if you don't think that hurts, you're crazy."

- Johnny gets beat by his dad all the time at home. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 12 the narrator was talking about Johnny when he said that "His father was always beating him up...".

- Johnny got beaten by a group of socs really bad. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 32, Ponyboy was telling a story about how "Johnny was lying face down on the ground...Someone had beaten him badly".
- AAA MY RIBS!
- When a couple of the greasers were walking with Cherry and Marcia, a group of socs which included Cherry and Marcia's boyfriends pulled up and almost got into a fight with the greasers. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 45 Ponyboy was talking about how Two-Bit "snatched up an empty bottle, busted off the end, and gave it to me, then reached in his back pocket and flipped out his switchblade.".
- Johnny killed a soc that was trying to drown ponyboy. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 56, Johnny said "I killed him, I killed that boy.".
- The greasers got into a rumble with the socs. This relates to the theme "Violence" because on page 144 Ponyboy said "Someone kicked me hard in the ribs and i yelped in spite of myself.".
