  • One major theme of The Monsters Due on Maple Street by Rod Sterling is Don't be quick to blame somone without reasonable evidence. I chose to pick this theme for my major theme is because it has a deep meaning into it, especially with this story. All residents jump to conclusion so quickly they never tried to stop themself and think like mature adults they are. When Mr. Goodmans car started up on its own everyone jumped to Les being the different one. They all also found it strange when Les did not come outisde when the city lights stasrted to flash and the loud roar happened. When Tommy stated that in one of his comics aliens sent a family of four down to spy on the residents they marched to Mr. and Mrs.Goodmans house in a mob while Les was by his car. They knew that Les was the one who was different out of all of the residents of Maple Street. In conclusion, that is why I chose Don't be quick to blame somone without reasonable evidence as my major theme.
