  • Rupert Murdoch and his News of the World tabloid was shut down in 2011 after being found guilty of hacking into voicemail messages of celebrities and politicians. People like David Beckham, Hugh Grant, and Prince Harry were victims of the tabloid's unethical search for scandalous stories. Murdoch pleaded in court that he had no prior knowledge of this hacking scandal but felt deeply humbled.

  • Fox News knowingly supported false claims of a rigged 2020 election in order to keep their large pro-Trump audience. Also, Dominion Voting Systems settled a defamation lawsuit against Fox for 787.5 million dollars against the false claims that Dominion's systems swayed the 2020 election outcome.
  • The 2020 election fraud scandal was finally the tipping point for Murdoch to decide to step down out of the spotlight as the head of Fox. Now that his son, Lachlan Murdoch, has recently took the helm of Fox, will he continue to lead Fox down the path his father has paved?

If the polls are split, then I will ask for volunteers to defend and support their answer. I will relate this activity to then play devil's advocate in favor of Murdoch. Were his decisions unethical, or was he just looking out for the well-being of his company?
  • I will reassert my throughline and present my call to action to the class. When making decisions in your future career or personal life, please consider all of the ethical implications that may come with the decision. Does your decision harm anything or anyone? Does your decision only benefit yourself.
