Storyboard Text

  • Hello! Welcome to my presentation about the Indus Valley Civilization. The Indus Valley is along the Indus River in Modern day Pakistan or Northern India. The civilization existed from 2,500 to 1,700 B.C.E. The Indus Valley was located along the Indus River.
  • Our homes in the Indus Valley Civilization are so important because that is what we stayed in. We have flat roofs because it acted as one big extra room and we also sleep on it on warm nights.
  •
  •
  • The Indus Valley Civilization had very advanced sewer systems for our time. Deep wells made of brick were located throughout our city. We stored water, including rainfall, in these wells. We would stand on a brick tray and tip clean water over ourselves with a jar. We also Dirty water flowed through pipes into a drain on the street.
  • The most dramatic feature of the citadel was the Great Bath, it was 39 feet long and 8 feet deep full of waterproof brick. It was used for religious reasons because bathing was an ancient ritual in the Hindu religion.
  • We used small stone-carved seals as a good luck charm. We had over 400 different pictographs that we used. They were also used as tags on goods placed on goods to indicate who owned them.
  • Trading was very big in our city because farmers brought food to the city and city workers made things like pots, beads and cotton cloth. Most traders loaded their ships with goods and sailed to trade with other places
