Once in a small high school, there was a basketball coach and his team. They trained everyday for their big game against the best team in the state.
The team was worried, but they could win if they all pitched in; the coach was confident and proud in his team. The day of the game arrived but only 4 out of the 5 teammates showed. The coach, worried about the 5thteammate sprinted to his house where the fifth teammate was sitting out the front. The teammate explained to the coach that he was scared and couldn’t play. Though he was not the most skilled, he worked the hardest out of all the players. He ran with intention, jumped till his legs cramped, and put his body on the line no matter the circumstances. The team would have been fine without him, but coach new he deserved the position. He persuaded as hard as he could possibly imagine trying to get the player to budge, but it was no use. He just sat there, like a brick wall. After a while, the coach reluctantly jogged back to the stadium.
There was 5 minutes till the all-important game began, and the teammate hadn’t turn up. If he didn’t, the coach would forfeit than play one of the subs. He had so much faith in him and was taking the biggest risk possible. The rest of the teammates were frustrated and agitated about the coach’s decision, their warmups rigid and the balls bouncing harder than usual. But nothing rattled changed the coach’s mind.
The coach new he was ready to win.The door swings with such a force everybody in the gymnasium diverts their eyes to the entrance. Their stands the teammate, with a slight grin, absorbing all the attention…….‘Bang!’ 1 minute remained. The opposition strolled around snark and conceited,like they had won the championship. The spectators on the verge of walking out.
