- How does Rabies Spread?
- Rabies is commonly found in foxes, raccoons, skunks and bats in the US.

- Even though it's fatal, rabies is vaccine-preventable.

- How Rabies Replicates:
- Rabies is spread through direct contact (animal bite/broken skin) with a rabid animal. Once infected with rabies, it'll take up to 2 weeks to show symptoms.
- 1. Absorption2. Virus enters cell3. Membrane is destroyed/removed4. Virus copied DNA turns it into RNA
- Before showing symptoms, the virus spreads to the nervous system, infecting it.

- The brain then becomes inflamed, spreads to the nerves and replicates in the host's organs.

- I'm a raccoon. I'm the most common mammal to be infected with rabies virus. Any mammal can have rabies, but my species have a higher chance of it, due to poor living situations.
- Rabies infects the main nervous system of animals, which can cause brain diseases and death. If another animal or human is bitten or scratched by a rabid animal, they would face the same consequences.
