  • common injuries and how to treat them
  • There are several common injuries that can happen during physical activity. Muscle strains, or pulled muscles, often happen from not warming up properly or moving the wrong way. They cause sudden pain, swelling, and muscle spasms, and should be treated with R.I.C.E. Sprains occur when a ligament is stretched or torn, like when you twist your ankle. Symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and limited movement, and also require R.I.C.E. and medical attention. Blisters are caused by friction, usually from shoes or equipment, and should be cleaned, bandaged, and not popped. Shin splints cause pain in the front of the lower legs and can result from running too much or using the wrong shoes. Rest, ice, and switching to gentler activities like swimming can help relieve the pain.
  • REST- protect the injured area, take a break for the activity
  • ICE- Apply ice cold reduces pain and swelling, leave it there for 10-20 minutes
  • COMPRESSION - Warp the affected area with an elastic bandage it helps reduce
  • ELEVATION - Warp the affected area with an elastic bandage it helps reduce
