- I should have given you some chicken too. Are you hungry?
- Thats a question you never have to ask me
- He's not going to mind, its just food.
- I'm just supposed to be cleaning glasses
- Thank you Bruno. *eats chicken*
- Midway in the story, Bruno meets Shumel again this time, in his house who was busy polishing cups, he started stuffing himself with chicken in front of Shmuel, feeling guilty he ask him if he was feeling hungry so he can offer him some chicken
- Do you dare to disobey me?
- Scared he'll get caught by Kottler, he quickly decline. Shumel explains how he is only supposed to be polishing glasses but Bruno told him that Kottler would not mind since its just food.
- No, sir. He gave it to me...
- Do you know this boy, Bruno? ........ Tell me Bruno!
- Shmuel shoves all three chicken slices in his mouth and gobbled them within seconds. He thanks Bruno with a faint smile as Bruno smiles back
- I've never spoken to him, I've never seen him before in my life.
- You will finish polishing all these glasses
- Suddenly, Kottler reappeared in the kitchen and stopped when he saw the two boys talking. He marched toward Shmuel, ignoring Bruno and started reprimanding him to continue polish and indicated how he did not gave him the permission to talk.
- But as Kottler looked closer onto Shmuel, he noticed his mouth seems off, asking him if he had been eating Shmuel lied and shook his head but Kottler didn't believe it and asked if he had stolen it in the fridge which then Shumel says how Bruno given it to him.
- When asked if he had given it to him, Bruno deliberately lies ,satisfied with his answer Kottler turns back to Shumel and told him to finish polishing all of glasses and he would later pick him up and have a discussion with him.
