(1) Mustafa is a 20-year old male who has twisted his knee while playing football. He has attended his local clinic and informs the GP of his injury. Upon inspecting the injury, the GP believes he has tore a ligament so decides to refer Mustafa to a specialist to assess and diagnose the injury effectively.

(2) The orthopedic doctor assesses the patients knee and suspects he has suffered from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. To confirm this, the doctor refers the patient for an MRI scan at the In-Health center in East London.

(3) Mustafa undergoes an MRI scan. The radiologist mentions he should expect to wait up to 2 weeks for the results to be sent to the doctor.

(4) The MRI scan confirmed that Mustafa has suffered from an ACL injury. Therefore, the orthopedic doctor asks Mustafa to decide between treatment through physiotherapy or surgery. He decides to take up physiotherapy, however expresses he is open to surgery if there are complications.
(5) At the Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinic the Physiotherapist undertakes several exercises to determine the strength of his knee. Upon completing these, the therapist assigns Mustafa exercises based on his strength which are to be completed at home for 30mins every other day. Mustafa is reminded to ensure these exercises are done correctly as it may lead to complications if done incorrectly.
(6) Mustafa reports that his knee has gotten worse in his follow up since the last check up. The physiotherapist advises his GP that he is referred back to the orthopedic doctor to discuss the next best step as carrying on with physiotherapy could cause more complications.
