When:several weeks after escaping, 1850s Where St.Catherines, Ontario, Canada. What: Harriet Tubman helps the newly arrived freedom seekers find lodging and work in the free Black community. They will then attend church service where they sing spirituals celebrating their liberation.

Why: This shows the support system that existed in Canada for those who escaped slavery. It shows how communities helped newcomers build new lives and maintain their cultural liberation

And then we crossed over that swamp and kept it moving, knowing that if we go caught we could die.
When:Several years later, around 1860. Where:Auburn, New York What: Harriet Tubman is now living in Auburn where she continues to assist freedom seekers and advocate for freedom. Shes shown Speaking to a crowd about her experiences and the need to end slavery.
Why: This highlights Tubmans ongoing commitment to the cause of abolition and her role as a powerfull voice against slavery.
