- Hey grandad, how are you?, I got an homework about 5 illnesses and would love to know what you know about them.
- Well I am ok, what are the 5 illnesses, and what exactly you would like to know?
- Well I would like to know about diabetes, obesity, hypertension, iron deficiency anemia and the cause, symptoms and treatment for each.
- Well diabetes isa metabolic disorder which reduces the ability of the body to control the amount of glucose in the blood. It is cause by the poncrease not producding enough insunlin. Some symptoms are blurry vision, dry skin, very thirsty etc. Some treatments are insulin pumps, diet, exercise etc.
- Okay I see. Is it true that obesity is a condition characterized by the excessive accumulation and storage of fat in the body ?

- Yes that is true and it is cause by eating too much and moving too little, some symptoms of obesity are shortness of breath, snoring, sweating more than usual etc. Some treatments are eating a healthy, reducing-calorie diet and exercise regularly.
- I think I remember this one, some of the symptoms are, early morning headaches, nosebleeds, irregular heart rhythms and it can be treated by not smoking,eating a heart-healthy diet with less salt .
- I think the next one is hypertension.Hypertension is blood pressure that is higher than normal and is caused by being overweight, smoking etc...
- Is iron deficiency anemia a condition in which blood lacks adequate healthy red blood cells and is caused by heavy periods and pregnancy etc ?
- Yes, some symptoms are weakness, pale skin, chest pain etc and it can be treated by taking iron tablets with vitamin C etc.
