- Pineda set out from Jamaica to map the coast of the gulf of mexico in 1519. he became the first European to observe the Texas coast. he did not finish his mission . some of his men were arrested by hernan cortes who saw them as threats to his mission
- cornado
- cortes was sent to mexico by the govenor of cuba in 1519upon arrival the aztecs viewed cortes and his men as gods because of their horses firearms and metal armour with the help of the aztec enemies the spanish were finally able to over throw the aztecs
- cabeza de vaca
- when la salle arrived in texas he was already famous he had explored the length of the mississippi river he convinced the king of france to establish a colony at the mouth of the river he set out with 4 ships but lost one to pirates and one to a sand bar he tried to establish a relashionship with the karankawa tribe the didnt get along he traveled back to mexico but on his way back he was killed by his men
- Coronado set off to find the 7 cities of gold but never found it. they did happen to make other discoveries though like the grand canyon and the pacific ocean
- cabeza de vaca was exploring Florida as a part of the Narvaez expedition the mission was lost and he and his men were forced to build boats and sail back to Mexico the boats were caught in a hurricane and he and several other men were shipwrecked on Galveston island the karankawa gave them food and shelter in 1536 Cabeza returned to Mexico telling storys about people they met and fabled the seven cities of gold
