This is verbal and dramatic irony because unknown to the person, the full moon has risen, and he has become a werewolf. However, he can also speak, as he is talking and growling, so he is able to communicate, which is ironic for a wolfman

This is verbal irony because the proper way to say an adjective describing iron is "iron" or "ferric" (in chemistry). The student was mistaken so the teacher corrected him, and so it became a joke.
