Hello, I am Dr. Maggie and I'll be with you for todays appointment regarding your diagnosis.
you good?
*pants* no *pant*
And you appear to have most of these symptoms as described by you.
Have you heard of Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)? I will begin with telling you what the main symptoms are.
The main symptoms are progressive exertional intolerance, light headedness(fainting) even after exercise, chest pain, shortness of breath, heart murmer, and rapid sensation of heartbeats
And for surgery: Septal myectomy-Septal ablation. -Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).
But don't worry, there are options to treat this. Such as different kinds of Medications and Procedures!
For medication: beta blockers, calcium channel blockers such as verapamil, or diltiazem. And Heart rhythm drugs such as amiodarone, or disopyramide.
Although this form of heart disease is common, about 600,000 to 1.5 million people are diagnosed with this disease in the US. This disease is usually shown in middle aged people, even though it can happen at any age
Now you may be wondering, is it curable? Not at the moment, but you'd have to go under a procedure called Septal Myectomy. It's meant to decrease the symptoms of HCM disease.
And in order for you to live healthy with this condition, I'd recommend: Being cautious when playing sports, manage stress, don't smoke, monitor blood pressure, limit alcohol drinking.
That's it for today, thanks for being here and reach out if you have any more questions!
