As the 310 men made their way to the northwest. These men have suffered through many hardships and many times were they have been threatened by the indians. From all of this the expedition had suffered delays and much hardship mainly because of the dwindling provisions and failures to locate a suitable route through extremely rugged terrain. This expeditioon was commanded by Hugh McLeod and had William G. Cook, Richard F. Bernham, Jose Antonio Navarro, and George Van Ness as commissioners.

To the surprise of the men on the expedition they did not get the greeting they were thinking of. Rather than a welcome or a hello they were met with a great force of armed forces from the new Mexican Governor Manuel Armijo, who had very close ties with the Texas enemy-Mexico. This happened through William G. Lewis a traitor to the Texas expedition. The Texans had to surrender to Armjio's forces. The Texans were taken prisoners and were treated very harshly. The Texans had to go 2000 miles to the prison in Mexico City. Through much talk from Mexico and the U.S . This lead to mexico releasing most the Texan Prisoners. In conclusion the Expedition turned out to be a failure. Because of the amount of encounters with Mexico and Texas, this will lead to a Mexican-American war.
