Late at night, the guards of the castle see Hamlet's fathers ghost. They tell Hamlet, and he is very confused.

The king feels that his son must avenge his death. Hamlet agrees, but is also a bit skeptical.
As Polonius is spying on Hamlet and his mothers' conversation, Hamlet is trying to explain the situation to his mother, but he then hears a voice.... Thinking it was the king, he stabs the curtain, but when it was not who he expected. He then realized he had killed Polonius.

To be, or not to be. That is the question. Whether it's nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing, end them.
After all that Hamlet has been through these past couple of days, Ophelia's death, trying to kill his new father, and accidentally murdering Polonius, Hamlet is considering ending his life so he won't have to deal with all of the events going on in his life.

Laertes challenges Hamlet to a duel, and he has a plan to load the tip of his sword with poison so when he stabs him in the heart everyone will think it was an accident. He has one more plan to set out a poisoned wine for Hamlet to drink when he gets thirsty. Hamlet agrees as a gesture of goodwill towards Laertes.

Near the end of the duel, the queen drinks the poisoned wine, Laertes and Hamlet accidentally exchange swords and Laertes gets stabbed, Hamlet drinks from the poisoned wine, and stabs himself with the poisoned sword. The only thing that's left is a pile of corpses, and of course, Horatio.
