  • In "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling, the main theme is fear and suspicion are destructive. On page 676, everyone was accusing Les Goodman of being the monster because he would go outside at night to look at the sky. They wouldn't listen to Less Goodman when he was saying that he can't sleep so he would go outside to look at the stars. On page 677, everyone was fighting and blaming each other for being the monster. They wouldn't listen or hear out what the other person was trying to say and also took sides and teaming up on one specific person. On page 679, Charlie saw a person in dark and took a shotgun and shot them. It turned out to be Pete Van Horn, and everyone was mad at Charlie for shooting him and also thought Charlie was the monster because they thought that Pete was trying to tell them something. Everyone was so scared and worried about who was the monster, that Charlie ended up shooting someone that he thought was the monster.In conclusion, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling, the main theme is fear and suspicion are destructive.
