- don't you think Henny's looking good, Francie? Tell him that he's looking good.
- Could you recommend a good book for a girl?
- Francie goes to the library every Saturday and is trying to read all the books in alphabetical order and every week she askes the librarian the same question about an eleven year old girl to see if the librarian remembers her.
- How old?
- Something wrapped in a long somber cloak with a grinning skull, and bones for hands is hiding behind these brilliant colors waiting for Henny.
- A group of boys gathered around the only horse in there neighborhood to watch it get washed and make up stories about how mean the animal was.
- Don't he look still and easy, but that's only a fake. He's layin' his chance for when Frank ain't lookin' then hell bite him and kick him to death.
- Just you and me Prima Donna. We'll go down south where the cotton blossoms blow.
- Her Papa came home at five o' clock and shared his day and stories of his past with Francie. She loved her dad everyone loved her dad. Especially when he called her Prima Donna, a nickname he had given her when she was born. as she was walking him out to the trolley they stopped by the hardware store and looked at some skates that she really wanted. Here papa talked about how one day he would by her those skates.
- Someday you will have those skates.
- After her papa left she went over to Flossie's house. At the door she met her Mrs. Gladdis and Henny at the door. Francie had been told Henny was dying but she didn't believe it. Flossie worked at a kid glove factory. She also made costumes for a masquerade ball each week. The costumes were glamorous and she always one first prize.
- You're looking good Henny.
- She tells a dying man that he's looking good.
- Aunt sissy is my favorite aunt.
- When her Aunt Sissy and mother came back home it was six and Sissy had brought a present for her form her work. It was a corncob pipe that when you blew into it a rubber hen popped up. When she was around, everything was gay and glamorous.
- Francie's mother has Francie and Nellie go to get there Saturday meat. Fancies mother doesn't want it on the plate which makes the butcher very angry. Then Francie goes with her friend Maudie to there Saturday confessions at church. Once she gets home Aunt Envy was there with her husband and they chatted for awhile. That night Francie got to sleep in the front room a privilege's she got on Saturdays and listened to all the sounds outside and the voices of her parents talking before going to sleep.
